Stanislaus Skokun and Genowfa (Jean) Bilyk married January 31, 1937 in Pine River, Manitoba. They farmed his parent's section of land until 1948 when my parents packed all there belongings from their farm near Cowan, Manitoba moving to a farm near Paris, Ontario. The move for my mother, was a difficult one because my parents where building a new home on the homestead that was near completion. Dad arrived March of 1948 in Pairs, Uncle Steve helped dad unload the train car that held all of his belongs and transport it to the farm. The train car contents where household items, farm equipment and two horses by the name of Duke and Princes. Dad entry in his diary, states, it was a 6 day journey by train from Cowan, Manitoba to Paris, Ontario. Dad traveled in the train car as the horses need to be tended to.
